CUMBRIAN flower wholesaler The Flower Bank achieved a catwalk coup at this year's glamorous Miss Newcastle event.

A selection of their blooms featured in the winning bouquets held by the winner Vee Sethu and two runners-up.

Flower Bank director Helen Wilson of Bankdale Farm, near Southwaite, Penrith, Carlisle, was also a VIP guest at the regional heat of Miss England held at Newcastle's Civic Hall.

“I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was,” she said. “I met the organisers and a few of the girls.”

Helen was approached to supply the flowers two months ago after international designer Helen Jamieson agreed to create the winning bouquets.

“Helen, who is based in Newcastle, works very closely with us, demonstrating at our open days and helping to raise our profile across the north," she said.

“She also created some stunning pedestal arrangements. It was a great opportunity for the business to get exposure in an area where we are beginning to build our name.”
